Hello everyone, thank you for coming to our first GBM of spring 2018! For those of you came tonight, we hope you had a fun night. For those who could not make it, don't worry, you could take a look at what was discussed here, or continue reading this post for a brief overview.
First and foremost, we went over how ASBMB was founded, why we chose to join, what we had done, as well as any long-term goals that we would like to achieve.
Although our club is biochemistry based, there is no restriction on major. As long as you are interested, feel free to join any of our events and put your information on the signing sheet. Attending three GBMs plus one outside event (e.g volunteering, fundraising, recruiting), you will become an active member and be eligible to run for a officer position.
We concluded the night with an ice-cream feast. Each member chose their favorite milk product and sweets, mixed them in a ziploc bag surrounded with salt and ice, and shook. This semester, our results turned out a great success as we could actually enjoy our DIY ice-cream. Recipe was also included at the end of our presentation in the link above.
Last but not least, we will welcome Dr. Paul Paukstelis, a UMD biochem professor, to our second GBM on Wednesday, October 10th in the same room CHEM 1402 at 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Dr. Paukstelis owns a 3D printing lab on the third floor of chemistry building, so don't miss out his talk!
